Cenotes Discovery

🤩 Jungle Path best selling tour!

What to expect

On this tour you will experience first-hand the mystical and mesmerizing cenotes of the Riviera Maya. One of the cenotes being completely private for your group. We asure you the feeling of being just you and your friends or family in the beauty of nature (accompanied by an expert guide) makes the moment more magical.

The first visit takes in the private cenote, below ground level; we walk deep into a realm of mysticism, with an alien-alike look scenery, the semi-flooded caves will widen your eyes with its stalactite structures; an ever growing process happening for thousands of years, this rocky-salt structures are standing witnesses of the pure and sacred rituals of ancient mayans.

Second visit we snorkel in the turquoise water of a second cenote, where we appreciate all the rocky formations underwater, very different experience than the first.

And third we swim in an open sky cenote. Base jump into it! These cenotes are natural pools in the middle of the lush vegetation, fresh water, not crazy deep, but still super fun!

Last but not least, a culinary treat, some call them the perfect meal, TACOS! a perfect closing for a perfect day!

Tour highlights

Flora and Fauna

The flora and fauna of cenotes are truly a marvelous spectacle! In some truly isolated cenotes, you may be surprised to find fish of varying sizes. But how did they get there? It is believed that hurricanes and underground currents could transport guppies, including some females with eggs, to the waters of some cenotes. It’s also thought that some larger salt-water fish like catfish make their way to cenotes through underground currents that connect to cenotes.

Exploring Magical Caves

The stunning closed cenote of Santa Cruz that you will visit is more than 8 meters deep! Once you reach the cenote, you will find crystal clear waters and the greatest work of mother nature - impressive rocky formations, caves, and sparkling minerals.

Spectacularly Ancient

Cenotes aren’t just ‘old’, they are ancient. Some of the spectacular cenotes you will visit on this tour are more than 60 million years old. Cenotes were the only source of water in the jungle for the Mayan civilization and are considered sacred by the Mayan people. The Mayans considered cenotes to be an entrance to their "underworld" (Xibalba) where their gods live and their spirits reside after death.
