Understanding the Name

You may be surprised to learn that in the Yucatec language, Tulum means “wall”, referring to the large barricade that surrounds the settlement. In the Mayan language, Tulum was called Zama, meaning “dawn,” a fitting name given its eastern location.

How are they born?

The cenotes are created when the cave ceiling collapses exposing the ground-water beneath, giving us a chance to enter and explore the ancient Mayan caverns and cave systems for an unforgettable experience.

Talking about tacos

The taco, Mexico’s greatest staple of the cuisine. Known by some as the ‘Mexican sandwich’, it is believed that the origin of tacos dates back to perhaps 1500 B.C.E.  One theory says the word ‘taco’ comes from an indigenous Nahuatl word 'tlahco', meaning "half" or "in the middle", which refers to the way a taco is formed.
